Connect: Creativity Matters Conference
When you are the organizer of major conference on creativity, where do you turn for ideas for integrating creative thinking, prompting feedback about specific topics, and inspiring connections between conference attendees?
The Need
The organizers of the Creativity Matters conference turned to Interplay for a method of building bonds between 300+ individual attendees while prompting feedback about the facets of teaching creativity. How do you build bonds, bring out individual expression about an intangible topic, and create an experience that gives form to actions and promises that the audience was asked to describe during the close of the event?
The Solution
Interplay integrated Connect™ and a series of visual and kinesthetic activities into a daylong program of experiential activity, culminating with an Connect-ing moment that turned . Connect is our interactive question connection activity that generates three dimensional sculptures from individual connections. Attendees received an multipurpose registration lanyard with a personalized Connect name card and a multitude of places for personalization and quick-jot notes. Carefully designed Question! posters throughout the facility and a hands-on Mind Putty™ activity in each lunchbox drew attendees into thoughtful discussion and feedback in fun, provocative forms.
The Result
After a successful day of interaction and feedback utilizing the engaging Interplay activities and lanyard, the gathered audience spontaneously took their Connect cards from their lanyard, completed their “what will you do” action, and created a “pass it on” sculpture that grew as they passed and Connect-ed their interlocking cards around the auditorium. Filled with suggestions, the conference organizers were very pleased with the tangible display of results that were compiled and utilized in future communications.
